A day at Mineral Wells....

Monday, April 12, 2010 | | 0 comments

What a great saturday! i drove 6hrs up to Mineral Wells to see some amateur drifting and to do the photoshoot for s3. Finally met James Evins. we chatted and chilled all day with people that he rolled in with (Robert with the maroon cressy, Lance, and Michael aka cutie pie). There werent a lot of people there but that didnt stop us from having a badass day. Robert ran NONSTOP all day. pushing his car as far as it could go. his "missile car", as he called it, was running hard, sliding well for the most part, and lookin good. he still has some bugs to sort out with the rear suspension which im sure he will work out come time for Lone Star Bash. towards the end of the day, me and James drove around the surrounding area to see if we could uncover some badass spot to shoot but we came up empty handed so we headed back to the airport. and thats where we saw a cute little spot behind a metal wall/fence that was within walking distance from the "race" track. He decided that it would be decent enough to shoot so we setup shop and he began to work his magic with some help from cutie pie. Aaron then told us that we would need to rap it up because he would have to lock up soon. so we packed up the stuff in my car and headed to the nearest hotel with robert. there we transferred the equipment back to robert's truck, talked it up reminiscing over the day that had just passed, and talking about the next day's event. I then gave them thanks for everything and said my goodbyes as they planned a trip to a local bar to relax and prepare for another day of driving. all in all the day was more than just amusing. it wasnt the same type of fun as an action packed, huge audience, drift bonanza, but it was just as great caliber wise. it was a good, chill day.

fairwell Mineral Wells. till next time.....

The Journey begins...

alright! got my car cleaned and the sideskirt is back on and holdin steady due to replacement clips from mazdur. not much that needs to be done in preparation for tomorrow's trip!

Gonna be heading to Mineral Wells, which is near Dallas/Ft Worth, for the Fabricated Motorsports Drift day and car meet and a special photoshoot for S3 Magazine and MotorMavens. The professional that will be taking all the pics is non other than James Evins. Yaay ive been in dire need of good pics! In for magazine coverage, badass meet, and Texas Drifting at its finest!

Fabricated Motorsport presents:

Drifting: Alrighty folks, here we go again. If you don't know where this venue is, just go to maps.google.com and search for Mineral Wells Airport, TX. Click on the satellite pic and you can see where we play VERY clearly. The lot is HUGE, and we often hit speeds of around 100mph on entry. Everyone is welcome to come out and drive even if it is your first time. We have people to instruct you, and help you through your first day. Drivers meeting is at 9:30 am or slightly after, and we drive until around 4:30-5:30 pm. This is the last Mineral Wells date to practice before the LONESTARBASH comes to us in MARCH.

Car Meet: Come hang out in a fun atmosphere with a bunch of people with cool cars. Ride along with the drifters, get some pointers, and be a part of the Texas scene. We regularly have some really cool cars out at Mineral Wells, and you don't have to worry about getting kicked out by cops or standing around without anything fun to do. Regular cars that attend our events include about 8 LS1 swapped import cars, 2JZ swapped cars, a V8 AE86, tons of turbo 240sx's, BMWs, 350Zs, etc. You will have fun! Bring a helmet so you can ride along with the drifters!

Media: We will be shooting some cars on Saturday before the event, and then again on the Sunday of the event. The photographer is looking for cool cars to shoot for blogs such as Motormavens.com, Speedhunters.com, Stanceworks.com, and many others. He also has work featured in magazines such as S3 Magazine, and all the major import tuner mags. Here is a link to the photographers flickr stream. http://www.flickr.com/photos/evinsj

Hi!

My name is Michael Voharndej but some also know me as Sumthaiguy. I started this blog to showcase my car, my adventures, and just random stuff i decide to put on here lol.

I LOVE cars, drifting, stance, etc... I drive a White 2008 Mazdaspeed3 that i love. Its pretty much just basic bolt-ons, coilovers, and stanced out. The stance seems to be REALLY controversial on the mazda forums lol. but its w/e. i do what i love.

I have showed in 2 car shows. the first being IFO where i took home 1st place Mazda lol which dumbfounded me because my buddies rx8 is waay more badass than my car. and Import Reactor ,which was this past weekend, and i took home BEST Mazda3/Mazdaspeed3 and my buddy Dennis took home 2nd Best Mazda.

We just started our new team called Team Opulence. we are just a group of friends doing what we love and nothing less. ive known these guys since like 6th grade so we are pretty close with each other.
